i live in the uk and am going to orlando in a few weeks is it worth taking Two Way Radios?
I have looked into taking my mobile phone but the call charges will be really high. If I do take a Two Way Radio does anyone know if the reception will be any good around the theme parks?
You need to check to see if the two-way radios you have are on legal frequencies/power range in the US. There's a possibility that your radios are on frequencies that are not permitted in the US, and will be confiscated at customs. (It's also possible that your radios operate at a power level that's illegal in the US.) Check with the US embassy or consulate to ask about whether your two-way radios would be legal in the US.
Your best bet may be to buy a set of two-way radios once you get to the US -- a decent pair will cost around $25 to start. Another alternative is to buy a "disposable" cell phone and a supply of minutes, such as a TracFone. I think you can get a TracFone and 240 minutes for less than $40.
Edit: I just checked Walmart and it has a TracFone for $10 and a deal that works out to 240 minutes for $29.88.
Have a good trip!
